Searching is an online thriller that will keep hooked. You won’t want to log off till it’s over
“Searching” is a 2018 mystery thriller film by Aneesh Chaganty in his directorial debut staring ‘John Cho’ and ‘Debra Messing’ from ‘Will & Grace’. This is said to be the first Hollywood mainstream film that is headlined by an Asian-American actor.
This film follows a father (John Cho) looking for his daughter who has gone missing, with Debra Messing playing a Police Detective who is aiding him in the search.
This movie is very unique due to the fact that it is set entirely on computer/laptop screens, surveillance footage, browser windows as well as smartphones.
There are multiple twists within this story and just when we think that we have figured out what has happened, you are thrown a curve ball that is totally unexpected. The acting is exceptional from the two main stars of the film and it has you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next.
This movie was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival at the beginning of 2018 and has garnered a huge following with people praising the execution and the rounded characters brought to life by the actors.
This is a film that I definitely recommend watching. It is gripping and will make you wonder what did we do without the internet or social media. Lol. Why not even try watching it on a computer screen, as that it how the film was made?!
Searching is available now on Netflix
I give the film well-deserved
