December 2025 Most Wanted Movies – Action, Thrills and Winter Chills

December 2025

What a way to finish the year – Not with love, peace and goodwill to all, but with action, adventure and some big laughs. December 2025 is closing the year with a bang!

Quite suprisingly for December 2025, there are no major Christmas movies arriving on the big screen to get us all in that festive mood. Of course there are the ‘made for tv/streaming’ seasonal movies that will be all to willlin g to fill that gap. Plus it just means there is more time to revisit some of your favourites. But if you are a bit of a grinch or just want to know what else is new and worth watching this month, keep reading, we’ve got you covered.

The Housemaid

If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers and lots of secret going on’s and stuff like that, then The Housemaid arrives on December 19th starring Sydney Sweeney, It does seem like Sydney is competing with Glen Powell and Pedro Pascal to be the hardest working person in Hollywood right now!

In the last few years alone, she’s appeared in a superhero movie, an action movie, a horror movies, she’s done rom com. It feels like she’s done every genre, including a sports biopic (Christy) just last month.

She literally is everywhere! So whether you like her or loathe her, Sydney Sweeney is here, and she’s working hard. Now personally, I’m a fan. I did really like her with Glen Powell in ‘Anyone but You’. I’m not a fan of Romcoms, but I liked her in there. But this one is a psychological thriller and I really like those.

Sydney is a maid, and she gets hired by the homeowner, played by the Amanda Seyfried. She gets a room upstairs in the attic with what looks like the perfect family. But everything isn’t what it seems, either with the housemaid or with the family. And things start to go very wrong very quickly. I just know there’s going to be some hidden darkness, secrets and some lies going on.

So if you come home from work and your partner says, I’ve just hired Sydney Sweeney to live upstairs in our attic. You know, there’s trouble coming! This one is definitely for fans of that genre, which I count myself amongst. So I’m really looking forward to The Housemaid from Lionsgate coming December 19th.

Avatar Fire and Ash

So a new Avatar movie is coming. Yay! Are there any Avatar fans out there? I’m certainly not one. I saw the original Avatar back in 2009, and I think it was a beautiful film. I think it used advanced technology, the use of 3D imagery, everything. I think it was like really, really groundbreaking.

James Cameron knocked it out of the park visually, but in terms of storyline? I thought it was just all right. I mean, I’ve seen that sort of story mant times before. Then I heard he’s going to make another four movies in the series, and I thought, there’s not four movie’s worth of storyline with these characters.

Its a very pretty movie, yes. But to announce another four movies?! There’s a level of arrogance or presumption in feeling the public want that more. Announce a sequel, yes but four films. None of the top directors, even when they’ve had a mega successful hit like Avatar was, have done that. Even from a creative point of view, most of the, willprefer to move on and create something new. Announce a sequel, even a trilogy, but a five film set? You lost me

I haven’t seen any Avatar since the first movie. If you’re a fan, again, not trying to offend you, please, drop a comment and let me know what’s great about this film series. What characters you really like. Just because a movie isn’t for me doesn’t mean I don’t want people to enjoy it. I’m not that kind of person. So, you know, if Avatar is for you, please make sure you celebrate and enjoy it. It comes out on the 19th December. Maybe drop by afterwards and let me know what I’m missing, you might even convince me to go and see it.

Anaconda

So when you hear Paul Rudd and Jack black teaming up, you know it’s got to be a comedy, right? Anaconda is coming in hot and hits screens this month. It’s a remake of the 1997 Anaconda movie, which starred Jennifer Lopez. Ice Cube, Jon Voight, amongst a host of other stars

Now while that original movie was more serious, an action thriller, this ‘meta’ remake turns things on its head and goes for laughs rather that scares. Two life long friends decide they are going to remake their favourite movie, the original Anaconda. They gather a crew and head to the Amazon but things decend into chaos and hilarity quite quickly.

Paul Rudd and Jack Black are both funny guys, but they’ve had as many misses as hits when it comes to comedies. Teaming thse two up on paper at least looks like it should work wll so we’ll have to see if they make comedy magic when Anaconda hits screens on Boxing day.

Also out in December

Marty Supreme

Now, you may have heard of Marty Supreme, but it’s based on a real-life ping pong player from the 1950s. Marty Reisman. Timothee Chalamet plays a character based on this person. Marty is a ping pong player with ample drive and self belief, trying to break through and find fame when nobody believes in him.

He’s an up-and-comer, he’s after greatness, and is overcoming impossible odds to get there. Who doesn’t love an underdog story?! Timothee Chalamet doesn’t generally pick bad projects, so this is definitely going to be a top notch semi autobiographical sports movie with some comical moments and a solid cast including Gwyneth Paltrow. Definitely one to look out for, Marty Supreme arrives on Boxing Day.

Kill Bill – The Whole Bloody Affair

If you’re looking for all out action, then you’ve come to the right place as Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair arrives this month. Now this is combination of Kill Bill one and Kill Bill two, in a format Tarantino always dreamed of, including a previosuly unseen animated sequence.

Kill Bill is an an epic action series, one of the best of all time in my opinion and one i would have certaijnly liked to see a thrid part for. So if you’ve never seen it or you want to relive those glory days, definitely check out Kill Bill. The Whole Bloody Affair, in cinemason December 5th. Trailer here
