Eddie Murphy Takes on Jim Carrey in a Screen Clash
Two Comedy Legends Go Head-to-Head in a Screen Clash. Who had the best film run, Eddie Murphy or Jim Carrey?
Eddie Murphy and jim Carrey are two comedy legends who dominated cinema screens for decades between them. Eddie owned the 1980s and early 90s with movies like Trading Places, Coming to America, Beverly Hills Cop and The Nutty Professor.
Jim Carrey on the otherr hand exploded onto screens in the 90s with his wild over the top antics in fillms liike the Ace Ventura series, The Mask, Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty. These mega stars were guaranteed box office gold so studios saw fit to give them huge payouts to secure their next two or three films could be release d by them.
Both Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey were able to show they were much more than ‘funny men’ by taking up serious dramatic roles like ‘The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ and ‘Dream Girls’, both of which saw them nominated for various awards for their serious performances.
Its safe to say, that period has past and these two stars no longer command that kind of power at the box office but that isnt to say their stars have completely faded. Infact, both of them have recently gone through a resurrgence in popularity, with Jim about to steal the show again as Dr Robotnik in the Sonic 3 movie arriving this December. While Eddie saw great success with the new installment in his Beverly Hill Cop series ‘Beverly Hill Cop Axel Foley’ (review), with a solo spinoff from the Shrek series ‘Donkey’ coming soon.
Looking back on the golden era of these legends, who would you say had the best run of movies?
